This series contains images from Jewish Communal Appeal (JCA), produced by professional photographers engaged by NSW Jewish Board of Deputies. This series contains images from JCA and is an unassembled collection of photographs between 1970s to 1990’s taken at events, functions of JCA. Though the original intent of the collection was not to record or interpret the social history of JCA, its retention serves this exact intent.
These images are originals and belong to JCA. Photographers include Peter Mack Studios and Peter Morrison.
This photographic collection provides a rich insight into the functions and activities of JCA. These images have considerable research and evidentiary values in relation to JCA and for the ongoing care and protection of historical items intended to be retained “permanently”.
The collection mainly includes:
1) Images of functions and events such as anniversaries; committees and fundraising; schools; luncheons with organisations such as B’nai B’rith, Jewish Communal Appeal, Wolper Hospital etc.
2) Images of individuals and JCA related themes
It should also be noted that the current appraisal & retention of these images is currently limited to known images in the current scope of this project.
