An Ordinary Day in Extraordinary Times

COVID-19 is one of the most significant events in our lifetime and in order to document the lives of the Sydney Jewish community, the Australian Jewish Historical Society and JCA asked what an ‘ordinary day’ in lockdown looks like for our local Jewish community.
On Friday, August 27 2021, between sunrise and sunset, people took photos and sent them in.
The photo collection includes – Pre-Shabbat preparation, working from home, home schooling, socially distant exercising and may other ideas that reflect the reality of being in a lockdown. In addition to the near 200 entries, Nadine Saacks Photography captured a number of photos of the local area, while AJHS President Peter Philippsohn shared photos of signs on leading businesses, many with closed doors.
